I’m not an avid fisherman – although I do enjoy it. One of my earliest memories is of my father taking me out fishing in the Smokey Mountains when I was four or five. I don’t think we caught anything because on one of my first casts the upper part of my fishing pole disconnected, flew off and got caught up under some rocks in a deep part of the river. I watched and whined from the bank as my father spent the better part of several hours slipping about in icy water trying to retrieve it. Cold, soaked and disappointed we returned to our campsite without a fish. Boy! did I mess that adventure up!
Fact is, fishing becomes a lot more enjoyable when you have the right equipment and the right preparation. The same is true with this thing we call “outreach” at Journey’s Crossing! That’s why this Sunday, we’re starting a new series called “Go Fish” and we are going to learn how to do a better job at making a positive difference in our neighborhoods, workplaces and around the world. If you’ve ever longed for a way to discover greater meaning and purpose for your life – this series is it! “Go Fish! “ will help you find and enjoy the adventuresome life you were meant to have while using it to make an eternal impact!
On another note, don’t forget that this Sunday we are meeting at our NEW LOCATION at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown! (Click here for info and directions.) Join us at our normal times of either 9:30 or 11 am and see what God is up to. This new move is just one more way that we are retooling and preparing to “go fish” in our local communities and around the county. With a larger auditorium, better space for our kids and teens, more space for hanging out and easy access right off of I-270 it’s a new and improved Journey’s Crossing, ready to continue growing and reaching out to our world.
So start thinking about who you can invite to our “Grand Opening at Our New Location” on Sunday, March 27th. Over the next three weeks we are going to work out all the bugs and upgrade everything we do -- just in time for all your guests! So, start praying and thinking about who to invite – it’s going to be a great way to reach out to your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers.
So join me this Sunday, at our new location, and get ready to “Go Fish!”
