Ready to start a new habit?

Labor Day has officially passed and that means that summer has come to a close and that Fall is on its way! While I love summer and the fun opportunities it brings, I’m also excited to get back into the routine of life and get our schedules and activities back on track. How about you?

This morning, a friend and I had breakfast at Panera Bread and he reminded me of how important our church was in helping set the tone and direction of our spiritual lives and the lives of those around us. We talked about the verse in Hebrews 10:25 which says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

So, I want to encourage you to take advantage and plug back in at Journey’s Crossing so you and your family can grow strong spiritually and take the next steps forward on your journey with God. This Fall, some very exciting things are taking place in our church and I don’t want you to miss out. I’m convinced that what our staff and leaders at JC have planned in the next several months is some of the best stuff that you and your family can take advantage of for miles around! If you and your family’s spiritual journey is a high value to you then you won’t want to miss out. And not just you, but you won’t want your friends, co-workers and neighbors to miss out on it either.

For instance, this Saturday, 9/11, from 9 to noon at the Universities at Shady Grove is a special Children’s Ministry Fall Launch program. If you, as a parent, or caring adult, want to find out more about how we can partner with you in helping the next generation find their way back to God and grow, then come join us. Click here for more information! This Sunday, there are multiple ways you can step forward on your spiritual journey. If you are new around here and want to find out more about Journey’s Crossing you can join us for our Starting Point Brunch for a free pancake brunch and an inspiring time of info and questions. Click here to RSVP.

If you have questions about the Bible, Jesus and Christianity and are looking for a safe, non-judgmental place to ask them or just find out some things you’ve always wondered about but were afraid to ask, then you want to join our brand-new 6-week course called “Explorations” that’s designed just for you. It’s offered during our 11:00 service so free childcare is provided and you can still join us for the 9:30 service if you want! Sign up here.

Also, if you’ve never taken the step of adult Baptism and are ready to commit your life to God or recommit your life to God with others in a beautiful twilight baptism service, you are invited to join us. Click here for more information about baptism or to sign up. Invite your family and friends to support you as you make this fresh start!

There’s so much more that I can’t even share it all. There’s an outreach trip to New York City on Saturday with our College and Career Group, there’s a children’s ministry conference for available volunteers and parents next Wednesday, there’s a new parenting class for moms and dads that kicks off on September 26th, there’s a high school and middle school fall retreat, groups and gatherings that are just too cool. There's a Golf Outing to raise money for our Nicaragua Mission's Team and on top of that our Adult Small Groups are starting back up and Sunday after Sunday we are creating life-changing content that will grow you spiritually and radically make your life better!

While summer has been a great time to play, rest and hang out with our families at the beach, now that summer is over I hope you’ll join me in reconnecting and refocusing on your spiritual journey at Journey’s Crossing. Together, let’s get back into the habit of coming together each Sunday with our whole family so that we get recharged and refreshed for the life that God has in store for us!

Plan now to be there this Sunday as we talk about the topic of envy and see how easy it is to get knocked of course. Envy is one of those things I tend to see in others but usually discount in my own life. We don’t often consider how toxic this thing is and how it may have already poisoned our lives. Did you ever realize that it’s almost impossible to be happy and envious at the same time? You and your family and friends are way too important throw away the joy that God wants for them - so come on out and let’s learn and grow together! See you there!
